LAMP Fundraising - Give to LAMP!
REPAC Donations Received
(October 2016) LAMP will be holding a fundraiser event to help host the 26th annual PIALA conference to be held in Pohnpei, November 2017.
A raffle ticket drawing in combination with bingo games will be held on November 4, 2016 at 4:00PM at Triple S in Awak Pah, U.
Tickets cost $.25 each! Purchase tickets from any of the LAMP members!
(August 2016) A container was off-loaded outside the Pohnpei Public Library from August 27-29, with the help of LAMP members and volunteers. Inside the container were more than 6,000 books and metal shelves donated from the neighboring islands of Hawaii via the Reach Out Pacific organization.
Sixteen school libraries received books from the donations, three of which are from the outer islands of Pohnpei, and they include the following: Awak, Calvary Christian Academy, COM-FSM Library, Kolonia, Lewetik, Nett, Nanpei Memorial School, Ohmine, Palikir, Pohnpei Catholic School, RSP schools, Saladak, Sekere, Sokehs Powe, and from the outer islands; Nukuoro, Pingelap, Sapwuafik.
The shelves were distributed between two school libraries, Awak Elementary School and RSP School. LAMP is taking steps toward improving relationships with the community and kick starting our promotion of the association through a fundraising event set to take place in early November. LAMP has also begun establishing a formal relationship with the state’s education department, in identifying training needs for our school libraries. With the generous donations from REPAC, these relationships are strengthened.
